Tips To Pursuing An Associate Of Science In Nursing Programs

LPN programs take between one and two years to complete.

Make sure you have done your homework. LPN programs take between one and two years to complete. The course work will include learning how to provide medical care to patients, how to administer drugs and other medication, how to instruct patients in taking their medicine, and how to handle clinical procedures. One must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent to enroll. There are two different types of LPN programs. A certificate program requires that a nurse obtains a board certification in order to work as an LPN.

Tips To Pursuing An Associate Of Science In Nursing Programs

The Board Certified Nurse (BCN) designation is the most common among LPNs. To be considered a BSN nurse, the individual must complete four years of an associate degree from an accredited nursing program, pass the NCLEX-RN examination, and take a nurse practitioner residency course. In addition, nurses with BSNs must complete four additional years of training at a hospital, nursing facility, or other facility that provides continuing education credits. After completing an associate degree in nursing, LPNs can move forward in a different career path. The next step would be a licensed practical nursing program or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree.

The LPN degree does not transfer over to becoming a registered nurse (RN), however. Registered Nurses (RNs) must complete an additional four years of schooling at a hospital, nursing facility, or other facility that offers these credits. To be eligible for this position, an individual must complete an additional two years of college courses that include topics such as biology, anatomy, and nursing fundamentals. Another option for an LPN is to become a licensed practical nurse or LVN.

This type of nurse works under the supervision of RNs but does not hold the title of RN. An associate degree nurse might choose to specialize in a specific area of healthcare. There is a high demand for LPNs who choose to specialize in certain areas of the healthcare industry. In such instances, these individuals may choose to study for the certification required to open a healthcare center specializing in a particular specialty area. There are various benefits to participating in an online LPN program.

For starters, this enables one to continue studying and earning credits even while working. Online programs also allow students to get an overview of the college degree programs available to them. This is very beneficial as a potential or current student would be able to determine which courses are relevant to their current career and goals, and which courses they may need to pursue in the future. Online programs are especially popular for individuals who wish to earn a diploma while working.

Some agencies pay their workers directly, while others use a percentage system wherein they will give you a percentage of sales you make as a nurse while the rest is divided between the agency and your employer. The fact that LPN online classes are available at all does not mean that the quality of the education is low. It is very important to be consistent with your efforts because this method can take time before you start seeing any real money coming in. By attending an LPN nursing school online, those who complete the program are assured of not only a higher income but also a more attractive resume.
